1. Avoid This Satellite

   I put much effort in an attempt to get this product to function. Two days of positioning, and many phone calls to Dish for help. In the end, I suspect I received a Dish Playmaker with faulty components, or damaged by UPS. The product could never obtain a connection with three satellites. Acquired signals would be lost, or interrupted, and then back to the test installation route. There is no indication in the instructions, or from Dish, which side of the satellite to position to the south. Some say point the handle north, others south. I will be sending this product back. I went back to using my old King satellite, and had no problem getting channels.

   I had the older model called tail gater for 8 years. It quit working so I went with the newer version Play maker. I was very happy with the old one I am even happier with the new 1 I highly recommend it. I use it on my boat that I have in a slip in Oceanside California.

   Used my Dish Playmaker Satellite and Wally receiver to watch the Superbowl at a remote location. It work great even while it was snowing!!
   
   Initial activation did take longer than expected. I was on the phone for over 30 minutes to get the system going. Setup was a breeze.

   Worked well right out of the box. The VR app was a great help in locating satellites through limited openings in campsite trees.

   I set up the Dish here in Colorado Springs, works fine, and took it to our land outside Cripple Creek CO, works great every time we go to the property. With no cable, or even power, it feels like home. We are very happy with the service to our remote located 5th Wheel, about 30 miles west of Cripple Creek, CO. Great Product.

   We got this bundle a couple weeks ago and are very happy with it. East install and works well. The only issue is the long startup time when power is interrupted

   Fast and easy, no hassle set up. Was using manual and can put playmaker in place and it locates while i continue with setting yp camper. GREAT

    As a new customer and haven't activated yet, its hard to write a review. But we are excited about it and will say that its very easy to set up.

    Got it all set up at my cabin on Sep 11 2019.
    I could not find any good options for mounting on the roof so I made my own backet that helped getting it leveled.

    Within 20 mins of it arriving had it up and working. Called dish and wasnt on the phone no more than 7 minutes was activated and viewing channels.

    I just purchased the Playmaker and Wally. Super easy to set up, affordable to add to my existing account, and great signal. No more dropped signal when the cellular systems are overloaded at the ball game. Highly recommended

    After figuring out the quirks of the set-up, everything works great. I had to set up my parents, which didn't go as smoothly as ours, bur overall we'll love having the Playmaker.

16. Decent entry level antenna

    The Playmaker is Winegard's entry level satellite antenna.
    
    Pros: Inexpensive, automatic, 100% western channels, 90% eastern channels.
    
    Cons: It's entry level, you are not paying for Winegard's best technology. You will need optional brackets to mount. Single LMB means it only connects to one Sat at a time, and takes a little time to switch between satellites. Will not work in-motion.
    
    Overall: It's pretty amazing that this level of technology has become this inexpensive.

17. Not good

    Ordered Playmaker to use when camping. Was told I would get same package as home service. When set up Playmaker would not pick up my local channels. Had to use a different city’s locals and that changed my home package also.

    I already had Dish service with a wally. I put it outside on a cardboard box and connected it. It was well packaged, but when I removed it from the box it seemed to rattle. Must be normal, because it took about 15 minutes to find satellites and run the set-up before I was watching TV.
    I didn't give 5 stars because I am going to roof mount it on my RV. A Dish representative told me the front had to face South. Which is not marked on the dome. She said the cable connection was the back. That did not make sense to me because I would not always be able to park with the dome facing South. I then called Winegard, that representative told me that the unit goes 360 degrees. Which makes much more sense. So I think the descriptions and instructions could be more clear!!

20. Playmaker survives flood

    We had a flash flood in the RV park we were at that. We had to go to higher ground ASAP and had very little warning. We only had time to undo septic, water and electric. Our Dish Playmaker was left to bob in the three feet flood waters for 24 hours, until the water receded. We both assumed it would be toast. Can not believe it worked perfectly the next day. Absolutely shocked. You don't want any other satellite for your RV. Indebted to you guys at Dish. Thanks for making such a great product.
